We really are such procrastinators on posting travel photos! In the middle of an incredibly busy season we thought we deserved a little break from editing weddings, so we finally got around to working on these. Blogging this trip brought back so many wonderful memories. Enjoy! 🙂
First stop: Lima, Peru
The food was one of our favorite things about Peru. Ceviche (marinated raw fish or seafood) was by far our favorite dish. We had it everyday!
Lima was such a colorful city!
Miraflores, Lima, Peru
Ancient ruins right in the middle of Lima!
Second stop: Ica, Peru
Third stop: Cusco, Peru
Our place in Cusco has the cutest little breakfast area on the top floor with amazing views of Cusco.
Coca leaf tea (the locals say it helps with altitude sickness).
Market in Cusco
I know it’s super touristy, but I couldn’t resist taking pictures with the cute baby goats whenever I could!
The start of our journy to Machu Picchu
The train took us from the small town of Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calients, which is the town that sits at the base of Machu Picchu mountain.
The view from our room in Aguas Calientes.
The bridge is start of the trek up Machu Picchu. We were surprised at how many people took the busses up instead of walking. It was a very steep trail and it was the most difficult hike/walk I’d ever been on, but it was so worth it and fulfilling in the end!
Fog was covering the mountain when we made it up there, which made us a little nervous, but as the day went on it cleared up beautifully.
At the entrance to Machu Picchu they have a place where you can get a passport stamp. So cool!
Back in Cusco we visited more Incan ruins.
We tried Alpaca steaks and they were delicious!
After relaxing in Cusco one last day, we flew back to Lima and then back to the US. Peru was definitely the trip of a lifetime!
